Style Can Be Sustainable

Choosing eco-friendly materials for your decor is not only good for the planet but good for your health. I’ve created a luxurious and unique living room style for an affordable price.

Things to consider when purchasing more sustainable furniture and furnishings.

1. Consider Green Certified and Repurposed Materials

   Look for labels such as FSC certified wood (harvested sustainably); recycled materials (such as recycled glass or plastic).
   

2. Choose Long Lasting Products

   Solid wood will last longer than particle board for example. Solid wood can also be repaired and refinished more easily and has less off gassing from binders and glue. Glass, cork, bamboo, stone, organic cotton, silicone, recyclable metals such as steel and aluminum, wool, wicker are other good options.
   

3. Minimize Shipping and Packaging Waste

   Choose companies that have a commitment to minimize packaging and use only easily recyclable packing materials. Stay away from excessive plastic and styrofoam.
   

4. Think About End Of Life of the Product

   Will the furniture or decoration simply end up in a landfill or can the product be easily re-upholstered or refinished. Can it be disassembled into different components for easy recycling?

I have chosen items with high quality construction and materials. For example the sofa and chairs use FSC certified wood. The pendant lighting is made from recycled glass. The coffee and solid wood coffee table is made from reclaimed wood. The rug is made from wool a natural fiber. All items are available via Amazon!
